Library cards:

To receive a library card, patrons must present proof of their local address at the circulation desk. Patrons 6-15 years old must have a parent or guardian with them in order to receive a card. If you live out of county, the fee is $10. If you misplace your card, replacement cards are $3.

Internet usage:

In order to use the computer, you must sign in at the circulation desk and present your library card to the librarian. It is also required that an internet policy form is signed and that any account balance be paid.


The library offers pre-loaded Kindles for checkout. In order to check one out, patron must be 16 or older and sign an eReader policy form. The Kindle must be returned to the Starkville Library Circulation Desk. The overdue fine is $1 per day.

Checkouts and Renewals:

To check out materials, you must present your library card at the circulation desk. There is a limit of 15 items per library card. An item may be renewed 1 time (in person, online, in the app, or by phone), unless the item is overdue or has a hold for someone else on it.

Checkout periods for library materials:

DVD – 1 week checkout with a limit of 4 DVDs per card
Books, CDs – 2 weeks
Kindles – 2 weeks

All overdue material (except Kindles) will accrue $.25 a day per item.
The library has 2 drops in the back – 1 is for books and 1 is for media.
There is a book drop in the front of the library.
